All proceeds donated to the hike will go directly to the Southern California Summer Miracles Community programming which supports finding forever families for kids currently living in foster care in Colombia.

How Summer Miracles Works

Children who are available for adoption stay with host families in designated communities for a 4 to 5 week summer visit. While the kids are here they learn about the U.S. culture, attend summer camp, and experience life in an American family. Host families advocate with Kidsave staff and volunteers to find the children adoptive families. Later this year children currently living in Colombian orphanages and temporary foster families will travel to Southern California. Kidsave hopes to help them all find permanent, loving families here in Southern California. Because these children are older (age 11 and up), they have very little chance of finding a family in their own country and likely have already been transitioned into institutions focused on growing them up independent of a family.

Families are essential. Research has shown that children need families in order to grow and thrive. Through Kidsave’s Summer Miracles program, older orphaned and abandoned children have the opportunity to experience family life and meet people who often end up adopting them. Kidsave’s Summer Miracles program has a 76% success rate in finding families for children that come through the summer program! (That’s more than 1,800 visits in 19 years.) You can read more about Kidsave at kidsave.org.

Want to know more? Want to meet some Summer Miracle alumni kids? I would be very happy to chat with you to tell you more about the program!

My daughter Aleja was a 2012 Summer Miracles child and is pictured above with her bangs in her eyes! Aleja graduated High School last year and is currently studying Culinary Arts in College!!

Kidsave makes it possible for older, forgotten orphans and foster kids to find a family. They use a unique method of hosting and mentoring that gets these overlooked kids out in the public meeting people and experiencing a family.

Use the links and tools here to donate, join my team and let all your friends and family know how they too can help some wonderful kids find loving permanent families.

Together we can make a difference!
